The Alpha brazing and soldering
alloy powders can be supplied separately or as part of a braze paste. Atomised
powders are produced to the standard size ranges, or to specific customer
requirements. Brazepates and solderpastes are manufactured by mixing the filler
metal powder with an inert binder, which may also contain any necessary flux.
Any alloy, which can be produced in powder form, can also be supplied as paste.
Brazepastes and solderpastes can provide an easy and reliable method for
preplacement of alloy in joining processes. They are particularly suited for
automated production and furnace brazing.
PASTE PROCESS
Every Alpha paste is a combination of Brazing or
Soldering Alloy powder with a specially formulated binder that may or may not
contain flux. Whether for automatic Brazing or Soldering, or for hand
application, each paste is customize to suit customer requirements. The Alpha
paste process can help with improving quality, reducing rejects, increasing
output and lowering unit costs.
The
choice of a brazing alloy in paste form follows the same quidelines as the
choice of alloy in solid form. Brazepaste is usually an individual product
formulated for a specific application and here the experience of Metal Joining
technical staff is used to select the correct particle, size, flux/binder
system, viscosity and metal content.
PASTE
BINDERS
The following binders
are available :
Soft Solders |
Non
Corrosive, Intermediate and Corrosive binders cosen according to metal parent
and cleaning requirements. |
Air Brazing |
Various fluxed binders for low temperature brazing, high
temperature brazing, specific applications extended shelf life
etc. |
Furnace Brazing |
Fluxless binders, or binders with small additions to flux, to suit
a wide range of furnace brazing applications. |
METAL CONTENT
OF PASES
Soft Solders |
Metal contents typically 80 ~ 90% by weight |
Air Brazin |
Metal contents typically 65 ~ 80 % by weight |
Furnace Brazing |
Metal contents typically 85 ~ 90 % by weight | * Metal contents can be varied to suit
the requirements of the application.
VISCOSITY
Brazepastes and Solderpastes are formulated to give a range of
viscosities, which allow easy dispensing. The viscosity of the paste can be
altered to suit particular dispensing requirements.
